Greetings one and all.
It seems hard to believe all that's happened in
the Hutton household since DLHS graduation.
To keep this short, here's the condensed version.
As most of you know, I made the major trip across
campus to DLC. I met the lovely Linda Isaacs, a chemistry major from Western
North Carolina. She was persuaded she should stop her studies, as she had a
year before graduation. She did, we married, and moved to Columbus, OH.
There, our first son, Ken, was born and blessed
our home so much.
Later, while living in Raleigh, NC, our second son
was born, Steve, who, like Ken has blessed our lives so very much.
Moving back to Columbus, OH, we, being the good
ZPG (zero population growth) guys decided we wanted a girl. We found a home
for unwed mothers in Lubbock, TX, that provided us with Jenny, our third and
final.
Jenny was six months old and contracted
meningitis. She nearly died, and we prayed to God He'd divinely intervene. He
did, she lived, but the sickness left her severely retarded and with autistic
tendencies.
Immediately, we began to search for services for
Jenny, and finding little, we used what we could and Linda went back to
school, majoring in Early Childhood Special Education. At the time, she had to
go to two schools to put this program together, to Univ. of NC @ Greensboro
and Greensboro, NC. Later, she'd go on to get her Masters in the same, from
Lynchburg College (VA).
As you can see, we've had lots of moving around
due to jobs, businesses, etc. We're very much at home now in the
Fredericksburg, VA, area. And for those of you history buffs, we're literally
adjacent to the Wilderness Battlefield and just three miles from
Chancellorsville.
I’m now a Major Gift Officer covering the North and Mid-Atlantic for Wycliffe
Bible Translators. Wycliffe has been around since 1942, translating the Bible
into “heart” languages where it doesn’t presently appear.
Linda directs the Parent Infant Program for Prince William County, VA. (That's
the Manassas area.)
The most interesting and rewarding position I've
had was with a ministry that assists Christians in other lands who are being
persecuted for their faith. We've visited Christians in China, Vietnam,
Philippines, Colombia, Peru, Egypt, Jordan, Romania, the Palestinian West
Bank, and a Caribbean island nation. It's awesome to meet brothers and sisters
who've spent 20 or more years in prison because they would not renounce their
faith in Jesus! I consider my trials so trivial in comparison.
Both of our sons are now in the Atlanta area.
Ken is now in Nashville where he has a neurofeedback practice. This procedure
helps children who suffer with ADHD, migraine sufferers, etc.
He had earlier worked for several years in Nashville at
a sound studio as an engineer, then as a massage therapist in Marietta. Need a
massage? Let me know! Oh, and Ken went to James Madison University, majoring
in Music Production. JMU is in Harrisonburg, VA.
Steve is the director of a youth soccer
association south of Atlanta and is also involved with the Olympic development
finding youth who could someday play in the Olympics for the US. And he
attended Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, major in Sports Management.
Jenny, in her mid-30s now, remains with us at home
until a position at a group home opens for her.
Should you care to send us a note, our address is
petehutton@adelphia.net and
yes, we'd love to hear from you. And if you're ever in the DC or Richmond, VA
areas, we're 50 miles from each city. The welcome mat is always out.
